Since their birthday's are only ~4 weeks apart, Abigail & Ashby wanted to have their birthday party together this year. We picked a day in between their actual birthdays and they quickly came up with and agreed on a Tangled theme. They were so exited! They knew they wanted to have the party at our house and knew who they wanted to invite to celebrate with us. We immediately started our guest list.

Soon after, I began looking online for invitations and came across a super cute
one that I decided I could make. I did not take into consideration how much time they would take to assemble, but they turned out really cute. I
finally finished them and gave some to the girls to hand out and the rest in the mail. (I ran out of string for the braids, so we had to print some pre-made ones from the
Disney website as well.)

I had written down ideas for food, drinks, goodie bags, and decorations, but didn't do one thing until the weekend of the party. Scott was out of town for the weekend...he got back just in time to help set up for the party. I recruited our creative, crafty family-friend, Julie to help me. Once again, I had some super cute ideas for decorations and party favors, but didn't realize how much time these things we take. Abigail, Ashby and I made a Hobby Lobby and Target run Friday morning. Julie came over that afternoon so I could run a couple of other places while the girls napped. Once I finished getting all of the food and materials, we got started. First up, our Tangled Sun Banner.

I used this
template for the banner. I printed out the pattern on yellow paper and Julie, Abigail and I cut out the suns. We used the pattern to trace out the triangles on purple paper and cut those out and then glued the suns on. We hot glued them to twine and hung them after they dried.

Saturday, Julie arrived bright and early. First project of the day: an 18 foot Rapunzel braid. This really took some time! BUT, it was my favorite decoration. We hung it from our balcony. It went along perfectly with our invitations and greeted our guests and welcomed them into our "castle."

Next up:
Pascal Party Blowers. We used colored paper instead of craft foam. They came out really cute, but I think the foam would have been better.

My in-laws dropped by as we were working. Perfect timing! Since I'm not an artist, and our printers only print out small pictures, I was trying to figure out how to make a big Flynn Rider "WANTED" poster for a game. My mother-in-law sketched one and I went over it with a Sharpie. It was perfect!

The final project: goodie bags. We stuffed clear bags with Tangled coloring pages, Tangled stamp rings, Silly Bands, bubbles, Tangled stickers (Ashby had to have stickers) and of course candy. I put them in a pink basket by the door so I wouldn't forget to pass them out as the kids left. I think it was also a cute touch to the decor.

Julie and Abigail made a sign for our door and we were done making things for the day. I watched the OU game, cleaned up, printed coloring sheets and started getting the tables and ready for food and arts & crafts for the kids.

Birthday Party Day. The girls were so excited! They finally got to wear their new Rapunzel dresses that Nana got them. We blew up purple and gold balloons (I bought a Balloon Time party kit at Target. I don't recommend this. The balloons did not last long. It's worth going to a party store to get balloons.) I picked up the cupcakes from Target then it was time to get the food and drinks ready and set up.

Decorations & Activites
Our guests were welcomed outside with Rapunzel's long braid hanging from our balcony and our Stemmons Castle sign. I decorated the tables with "gold" flowers and the girls, Rapunzel's Magical Tower with Rapunzel, Pascal, Flynn & Maximus. I also used their Rapunzel's Boat Ride with Rapunzel and Flynn for decoration in our living room/arts & crafts area. Our coffee table served as our arts & crafts area. I had Tangled activity and coloring sheets and boxes of crayons out for the kids as they arrived.

Food & Beverages
We went to a friend's 2nd birthday party a few weeks ago where they served
Peach & Strawberry Soda. Both kids and adults loved it, so we had to have it for our party. It was so good, although I wish I had blended the fruit a little better. There were some pretty big chunks. I also set up a little coffee bar and we had iced tea. Julie and I put together a fruit plate, and a veggie plate with hummus and ranch. Then there were cupcakes. We had both chocolate and vanilla cupcakes with bright purple, pink, and yellow swirled icing.

After crafts, we lined up for a game of Pin the Frying Pan on Flynn Rider's Nose. We had the WANTED poster and I made 4 black frying pans, put tape on them, blind folded the kids, spun them 3 times and let them "pin" away. I initialed where they were on the poster so we could reuse the frying pans. The closest and farthest from Flynn's nose got prizes.

Then it was time for "Happy Birthday," cupcakes and gifts. The kids couldn't wait to see Abigail and Ashby open the gifts they'd picked out for them. It was so sweet!

We had such a fun time celebrating with our family and friends. Both girls told me that it was the BEST birthday party they'd had (and that I was the best mom, ever...for the record!) :) We appreciate you taking the time to celebrate with us! You made the girls feel extra special and we are incredibly blessed to have all of you in our lives. Thanks so much for the thoughtful and handmade cards and the sweet balloons and amazing gifts. We are having a great time playing new games, making jewelry, playing dress up & makeover, playing fairies & princesses and learning letters & states.
