SURPRISE!

Time to play catch up! I've got some posts on our summer fun that I'm going to try to share before we get busy with Stemmons' School and co-ops. Here goes!

It all started with a super surprise 40th birthday party.
Since we were scheduled to leave for a week at Disney World on Scott's actual birthday, I planned a little get together in our backyard to celebrate Scott's birthday the Saturday before. Our good friend, Dave helped get Scott out of the house nice and early for a round of golf. Dave texted me to let me know that they had finished a little early. Dave and his wife were able to treat Scott to lunch and keep him at their club while my mom, the girls and I decorated and waited for guests to arrive.

Family and friends started to arrive. Completely oblivious to the whole surprise party, Scott took his time getting home. When he made it to our street, he was unable to find a place to park. He circled around. He told me he considered just driving off when he say all of the balloons and people in our backyard. Abigail made her way to the front to welcome her daddy to his party.
He was so surprised!

We mingled and the kids played. Then it was time for the blue (Scott's favorite color) cupcakes.

They were yummy!
Abigail decided that we all needed to sing "Happy Birthday" to her daddy. It was the cutest thing! She shyly tried to get everyone's attention. Once I figured out what she was doing, we got our handheld megaphone for her. She finally got the nerve to talk yell loud enough to get everyone's attention.

Tapping on it, "is this thing on?"
"Attention everyone!"
She did it! She got everyone to sing.

What follows the "Happy Birthday" song? Presents of course! AND thank you, sweet friends for the thoughtful gifts!

What a fun day! Thanks to all of you for helping me pull of the surprise and for celebrating Scott's 4-0 with us! I have a feeling he's probably going to pay me back for this one!
